third and fifth match respectively.
The first wicket stand of 89 runs between Neil Johnson and
Guy Whittall is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against West
Indies. This obliterates the previous record stand of 24 runs
which was made in only the previous encounter between these two
countries at Bristol on 06-07-2000. The batsmen involved on that
occasion were Neil Johnson and Craig Wishart.
The third wicket stand of 96 runs between Guy Whittall and
Alistair Campbell is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against
Zimbabwe. This obliterates the 86 run partnership between Stuart
Carlisle and Murray Goodwin at Kingston on 04-01-2000.
West Indies' total (186-8) is its lowest in all matches against
Zimbabwe. The previous lowest was 232 for 7 (in 50 overs) in the
first match of this series at Bristol on 06-07-2000.
Nixon McLean became only the second West Indian to score a fifty
at number nine. The only other batsman to do so is Michael
Holding who made 64 against Australia at Perth on 05-02-1984 in
a World Series Cup match.
The seventh wicket stand of 46 runs between Ridley Jacobs
and Franklyn Rose is West Indies' highest for this wicket
against Zimbabwe. This expunges the previous record stand of 43
between Anderson Cummins and Roger Harper at Hyderabad (India)
on 21-11-1993.
The eighth wicket stand of 54 between Ridley Jacobs and
Nixon McLean is new record for West Indies for this wicket
against Zimbabwe. The previous best was 19 run partnership
between Anderson Cummins and Winston Benjamin in the above
mentioned match at Hyderabad on 21-11-1993.
The ninth wicket unbroken stand of 29 between Nixon McLean
and Mervyn Dillon is highest for West Indies for this wicket
against Zimbabwe obliterating the paltry 2 run stand between
Winston and Kenny Benjamin in the Hyderabad match.
Guy Whittall was making his 100th ODI appearance for Zimbabwe.
He became fourth Zimbabwean after Andy Flower (141), Alistair
Campbell (130) and Grant Flower (128) and 105th player overall
to do so. Incidentally Sri Lanka's Marvan Atapattu had become
the 104th player to achieve this landmark on the same day at
Colombo SSC in the match against South Africa.
Guy Whittall won Man of the Match award for the fourth time
in his career.
