Arjuna Ranatunga, who was replaced by Indika de Seram for the second and third Tests against Pakistan, will leave for Melbourne to undergo corrective surgery on his fractured left thumb. He will remain in Melbourne for ten days subsequent to the operation for specialist treatment. Ranatunga will not be able to play for a minimum of 3-4 weeks. He leaves Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
