Spartan Eyes victory In Division 1 Cricket Competition

Big B Spartan have victory in sight when the second day of the fourth round of the Courts/Suzuki cricket competition bowls off at 1:30 p.m., today.

The Parkites grabbed first-innings points against CHIC Schools South at The Lodge School last Saturday and with a first-innings lead of 87 will be going after full points.

Last week, the spin twin of Aaron Barker and Dave Marshall did the damage and they will be looking to repeat that feat and take Spartan to 27 points.

This would put some pressure on leaders Police, who are engaged in an enthralling battle with ICB Empire at Weymouth.

Empire resume on one without loss in search of 185; but with the lawmens potent bowling force, this is not expected to be easy.

In another key encounter, BET resume on 195 for seven against BNB St. Catherine with the capable batting pair of Errol Barrow and Ellis Stuart at the crease.

BET bowling has not been their strong point this year so a declaration would not be wise against the dangerous Bayfield boys, who are always difficult to topple on home turf.

An interesting duel is also developing at Beckles Road with homeside Sports and Games YMPC struggling to overcome ESA Field Pickwicks 125.

This is sure to be more than a first-innings battle and if the weak batting shown by both teams continues, the match is expected to be close throughout.
