England today named a squad of 13 players for next week's 4th Cornhill
Test Match against West Indies at Headingley (August 17th-21st)
The Hampshire left-arm pace bowler Alan Mullally is included in a Test squad
for the first time this summer with Glamorgan off-spinner Robert Croft
stepping down from the side who played at Old Trafford.
Announcing the squad, Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney said: "We have
decided to leave Robert Croft out as we do not think that spin will be
needed at Headingley.
"Alan Mullally is in a rich vein of form at the moment and we were also keen
to keep Matthew Hoggard in the squad as Headingley is his home ground and he
has a good track record there.
"Our final line-up will depend on an assessment of the pitch and the local
weather conditions, but at this stage we are more than likely to play seven
batsmen plus the four seam bowlers who played at Old Trafford."
