Mercedes Championship golf...
The US Tour kicks off as usual with the Mercedes Championship from Hawaii and, in a field restricted to last years Tour winners (only 30 compete); there must inevitably be some each way value to be had (1/4 1.2.3.4). Tiger at 9/4 does not represent value when you consider his record 5-1-8-10 here is ordinary in the context of this short field, although it is difficult to see him not competing this week. More attractively priced is last year's Tour Championship winner Chad Campbell at 20/1, who is fully expected to build on that initial success and become prolific winner on the main Tour this season. His length off the tee will be a bonus on a course that will play long due to the rain-lashing it has received recently, while course debutants have had a surprisingly good record here, notably Sergia Garcia's debut win here back in 2002. Another player expected to build on last years success is Rory Sabbatini (40/1), who starred in South Africa's World Cup win, and who had one hand on this Trophy on his only previous visit here three years ago, only to miss a 4ft putt on the last green!
As well as outright prices, bet365 also have 72 hole Match and Group-Betting available on this event, whilst we shall of course be offering our unique In-running service as the action unfolds on TV.
Weekend Horseracing action...
Nicky Henderson has already plundered some good prizes this term and he is set to be double handed in this weekend's Victor Chandler Chase with both Isio and Got One Too. Isio, a creditable 5th on his seasonal debut over hurdles, missed his next intended race due to an abscess but has fully recovered according to jockey Mick Fitzgerald. With an 18lb turnaround for a 12 length defeat at the hands of Saturday's favourite Azertyuiop (2/1) in last season's Arkle Chase, connections must be hopeful of reversing the form and rewarding supporters with a 5/1 payout.
What Odds has been the subject of support for the Grand National in April (now 33/1), and connections are eyeing up the valuable Tote Classic Chase at Warwick on Saturday for the geldings next target, for which he is a 5/1 shot. The main danger looks to the Martin Pipe Akarus (3/1 favourite), who was still travelling well when coming down four out in the Welsh National.
Haydock's Champion Hurdle Trial on Saturday features the British debut of Specular, who on paper looks to have a stiff task against reigning Champion Rooster Booster. The latter has, however, been slightly disappointing this season and is once again unlikely to have the fast run race that he needs to perform at his best. Specular was rated highly in his native Australia, and has already been supported down to 10/1 for the Champion Hurdle, so expect a big run on Saturday. On the same card, Kingscliff bids to take another step up the ladder when he contests the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase. He is already looking the main threat to Best Mate's bid to win a third consecutive Gold Cup, for which he is a 6/1 chance.
Channel 4 cameras are in action at both Warwick and Uttoxeter on Saturday. Back a winner at 4/1 or over on any of the televised races and we will give you a free bet to the same stake on the next channel 4 race.
Man Utd v Newcastle (Sunday, 16.05 GMT ko)
Manchester United have not lost to Newcastle at Old Trafford since 1972 and are strongly fancied for a home win in at 1/2. Compared to last season, Newcastle have been disappointing, although Jonathan Woodgates' return to action last weekend is likely to give a much needed boost to their defence. He will need to be at the peak of his powers, however, to keep the threat of Van Nistlerooy at bay! A 2-0 scoreline at 5/1 looks the value call.
Hibernian v Rangers (Saturday, 12.30 GMT ko)
Hibs will be hoping to do the Old Firm Cup double after scalping Celtic in the CIS Cup, but Gers will be up for this after being knocked out of the Title race last weekend, and they look the most likely winners at 4/11. Given Rangers' tendency to snatch late winners this season, a repeat of November's 1-0 scoreline could be on the cards, while it is the same price for a draw/away double result.
Leicester v Chelsea (Sunday, 14.00 GMT ko)
Chelsea's expensive defence has looked decidedly vulnerable in recent weeks, and they are likely to be tested by the likes of Paul Dickov, while in midfield Muzzy Izzet could upset the likes of Lampard & Co. Chelsea also have a FA Cup replay to factor in next week and could well slip up to give the three points required for Leicester to move clear of the relegation zone. Its 5/1 the home win with bet365, while a Dickov/1-0 scoreline combines for a juicy Scorecast bet at 65/1!
