Haryana scored a facile innings and 100-run win over Jammu and Kashmir
in the North Zone Under-14 tournament match at the Sat Priya Cricket
Academy ground at Rothak on Tuesday. Haryana with this win earned
eight points.
Following on 298 runs in deficit, J&K were bowled out for 198 in their
second innings on the final day. Karan Kochhar (58) was the top
scorer, while none of the other batsmen managed to make any impact.
Prem Prateek (4 for 54) and Deepak Choudhary (4 for 52) were the main
wicket takers for Haryana.
In their first innings, J&K fared poorly when they were bundled out
for 71 runs. Only two batsmen, Rohit Bhatt (19) and Hasibullah (12 not
out) managed to reach double figures.
Earlier on the opening day, Haryana were put into bat and amassed 369.
Haryana skipper Deepak Saini led from the front with a fine 106. He
shared a 102-run fourth wicket stand in 35.1 overs with Prem Prateek
(66). Then Nitin Mahtani (57) and Varun Ratra (64) added 95 runs for
the sixth wicket in 20 overs. Opening bowler Manish Raghuvanshi
ploughed a lonely furrow in taking seven for 124 off 35 overs.
