Matthew Hayden has been ruled out of Sunday's Pura Cup match between Queensland and Western Australia at the WACA due to a chest infection. Hayden, who had earlier recovered from a stomach bug after the match against the South Africans at Brisbane on Tuesday, has been sidelined for ten days, according to Simon Carter, the team doctor.
Hayden said: "After suffering pleurisy last year before the New Zealand tour, the doctors didn't want to take any risks.I'm very disappointed that I'm going to have miss these games for Queensland because I was looking forward to helping put the Bulls in a strong position for the rest of the season as well as building a case for selection in the Australian one-day squad. But hopefully I can recover well from this and get back into cricket after 10 days rest.''
If Hayden recovers quickly enough, he could play the ING Cup match against Victoria at the Gabba on January 25.
