Rodney Hogg, one of Australia's most outspoken former players, has won a spot on the Victoria selection panel for 2005-06. Hogg, the fast bowler who played 38 Tests and 71 one-day internationals, was named alongside David Robinson, the former first-class batsman, on the panel that also includes Ray Bright and John MacWhirter.
Hogg is a regular spokesman for most of the game's issues and in April said Test cricket was "not sport" because of a string of one-side matches. Ken Jacobs, the Cricket Victoria chief executive, said Hogg and Robinson would bring experience and valuable knowledge to the positions. "Rodney and David have a great understanding of the game and what it requires to succeed at first-class level," he said. "I'm sure they will do an excellent job."
Cricket Victoria has extended the body from three members to four - although Greg Shipperd, the state coach, acts as a fifth selector in his role as state coach - after Michael O'Sullivan resigned to take up a position at Footscray Edgewater CC.
