Karachi, Oct 31: Karachi Whites coasted to an impressive 10-wicket
victory over Faisalabad well inside three days in the Quaid-i-Azam
Trophy National Grade-I Cricket Championship match at the UBL Spots
Complex here on Tuesday.
Openers Shadab Kabir and youngster Khalid Latif made light work of a
meagre target of 61 runs to give Karachi Whites their third win in
four matches 37 minutes before lunch on the third afternoon of the
four-day tie.
Fourteen-year-old Khalid marked his first-class debut by scoring the
winning runs - a powerful pull to the mid-wicket boundary off Ijaz
Ahmed Junior. He remained 22 not out with four hits to the fence.
The experienced Shadab Kabir finished on an unbeaten 36 which included
four fours and a towering six over wide mid-wicket - the ball striking
the tin scoreboard with a thud.
Earlier, Faisalabad added a mere 11 runs to overnight tally of 102 for
nine before Danish Kaneria had Saadat Gul caught at point by Zeeshan
Pervez for a gutsy 40.
Saadat, the 33-year-old all-rounder, batted, in all, for 142 minutes
and faced 129 deliveries. He struck five boundaries.
Kaneria gave another reminder to the national selectors by claiming
nine for 115 in this match, including five for 32 in the second
innings. The 19-year-old leg-spinner has snared 27 wickets so far in
four games this season at 18.15 per scalp.
The unbeaten Karachi Whites consolidated their top spot on the table
by picking up full 12 points on Tuesday to increase their haul to 39.
Their next opponents are Gujranwala, at the KCCA Stadium from Nov 4.
