Kanwal Naz's battling fifty lifted Karachi to success in the first domestic championship, as they romped to a six-wicket victory against Lahore in the final at Qadhafi Stadium on Monday.
Karachi coasted past their target of 217 with more than five overs to spare, as Kanwal crunched six fours on her way to 54. She was later named Woman of the Match. Arman Khan posted 37 in 22 balls, including five fours and two sixes, and their captain Humaira Masoor added 33 before being trapped lbw. But Lahore were left to rue conceding a staggering 50 extras, which was to prove the difference as Karachi cruised to victory.
An impressive opening stand of 138 between Sana Javed and Tasqeen Qadir was not enough to save Lahore. Sana posted 60 from 94 balls and Tasqeen stroked 59 as they rattled up 216 for 3 from their 40 overs. And the consistent Shamsa Hashmi ended unbeaten on 45.
