India batsman Rahul Dravid has confirmed he will not be returning to Kent next summer.
Dravid, who was a big hit with both teammates and Kent supporters last season said his busy international schedule made it virtually impossible for him to spend a few months in England.
"I'm obviously very disappointed not to be able to return. The proposed scheduled for the Indian team makes it impossible for me to participate in county cricket.
"I've enjoyed every minute of my time with Kent and am very grateful for all
the support I've received."
Dravid was the most prolific batsman for Kent last season making 1039 first-class runs, some 500 more than the next best player Robert Key with 558. As well as contributing runs, the Indian star, rated as one of the best one-day players in the world, was also a model professional, according to skipper Matthew Fleming.
"Rahul made an outstanding contribution to the team both on and off the field.
"He was a great example to all of us and it is a great pity that he is not
able to return.
"We have already started to examine the options available to us."
Kent have also parted with their county coach after John Wright, the former New Zealand captain, accpeted an offer to become coach of the national Indian side. John Inverarity takes his place.
