Lancashire CCC play host to Robbie Williams next summer after Britain's number one pop star chose the Old Trafford Cricket Ground as the venue for a Manchester gig.

Geoff Durbin, Sales & Marketing Manager for Lancashire County Cricket Club said: "We are absolutely delighted that Robbie Williams has chosen Lancashire County Cricket Club as the venue for his Manchester dates next July.

"Old Trafford is recognised as one of the world's most famous and prestigious cricket arenas - now we are back on the map as Manchester's top outdoor concert venue.

"I believe our experience of hosting International events, together with excellent catering facilities, our on site hotel and our own Metrolink station make us the first choice for this event."

Jim Cumbes, Chief Executive commented, "Clearly this will provide a considerable financial boost for the Club which will help us achieve our aims for further success on the cricket field. That is what everyone here at Old Trafford is working so hard for."

Lancashire hosted a Simply Red concert in 1992 and two years ago were due to stage an Elton John and Billy Joel night but were forced to cancel on the morning of the concert when Joel backed out becauise of illness.

In addition to the Robbie Williams concert on Saturday 28th July, Lancashire also have plans for a pop festival in May and will release details over the next few weeks.
