Stansfeld Scott Police might not have been awarded a replay against
Mount Gay Maple, but they still intend to take this years Courts
Suzuki Division 1 title.
The lawmen were hoping to play their game against Maple, which did not
come off on October 9, 10, 16, due to a nationwide Police sick out,
but a boardroom decision awarded the eight points to the hometeam.
But speaking yesterday, Polices veteran captain Leslie Reifer took
the decision in stride, but warned that it would be hard to stop his
men from taking their second consecutive Cup.
We have not been under pressure all season and I dont see why we
should be under pressure against Spartan, Reifer said as he looked
ahead to next weekends clash with second-placed Big B Spartan.
We are eight points ahead of Spartan and they have to come and play
proper cricket to defeat Police.
Police had yesterday off having defeated Cable & Wireless BET in
two-day to move to 55 points. Spartan have 47, and ESA Field Pickwick
are fifth on 41, after starting the latest series third.
After Big B Spartan, Police take on Pickwick who have been consistent
all year. Spartan have a date with Banks at Queens Park in the final
round.
Reifer said he would have a meeting with his colleagues tomorrow to
discuss the decision, as all the players did not know of the decision
of which he was notified on Thursday.
The Barbados Cricket Association board referred to the matter to its
Complaints and Disciplinary Committee
