From humble beginnings some nine years ago the Mamelodi Cricket Club has taken its position in the Premier League for the 2000-2001 season with much pride. The M.C.C. represents about 300 cricketers from Bakers Mini-cricket level, ladies cricket , junior and senior men's cricket. Many seasons of hard work and harnessing raw talent has seen fantastic progress for the game of cricket in Mamelodi.
The past 3 seasons have seen Mamelodi Cricket Club represented at executive level at the N.C.U. as well as provincial representation for our boys and girls at all age groups within the Northerns cricket structure. The burning ambition to succeed on the cricket field was recognised by Debis Fleet Management, a subsidiary of Daimler-Chrysler motor corporation, and a partnership has been forged.
Debis Fleet Management recognises the importance of sport in the development of the youth of our country. Debis Fleet management recognised the quality that made it a champion in its field in the M.C.C. and has pledged its support to our club in order to help us be a champion club of the future. Debis Fleet Management has allocated a quarter of a million Rand to the Mamelodi cricket club. The money will be used to build clubhouse facilities at the Mamelodi oval.
The partnership between Debis Fleet Management and the M.C.C. will encourage our pursuit of achievement both on and off the cricket field. The motivation to be successful, as a sports club, is stronger now than it has ever been and the generosity of Debis Fleet Management will enable our club to grow the support of cricket in Mamelodi.
