SuperSport Park saw another belter of a pitch produce 393 runs as Northerns declared at 357 for 6 with both Justin Kemp (93) and James Mokonyama (92) just failing to reach three figures, while Johan Myburgh (102), having gone to his hundred, was run out in the final over as he looked to add some extra bonus points. Easterns had started the day well, capturing three wickets within the first 13 overs, but that's where the fun ended for them. Partnerships of 126, 95 and 96 put Northerns firmly back in control. At close Easterns were 36 for 2.
