Canterbury cricket officials are continuing to seek compensation after
a Shell Cup match was cancelled at Lancaster Park last December.
Solicitors for the Canterbury Cricket Association and Victory Park
Board -- administrators of the park -- are meeting today over the
compensation issue.
The Canterbury-Northern Districts cup match was cancelled on December
30 after the wicket was left uncovered, and was affected by rain
before the game.
Award-winning groundsman Russell Wylie was suspended after the
incident. He subsequently resigned.
Canterbury Cricket Association chief executive Tony Murdoch said the
compensation issue had become "a little more complex" than
anticipated. "It's dragged on for a range of reasons but we are
hopeful of reaching a resolution."
Victory Park Board general manager Campbell Prentice said talks were
"reasonably amiable" although "I wouldn't say we are close together".
