Zimbabwe Cricket's constitutional amendments are understood to have been approved at a meeting with the Sports and Recreation Commission last week.
The new changes to the draft constitution, earlier rejected by the SRC as it sought to empower government to chose for ZC them seven directors, will now see the chairmen of the country's ten provincial boards compose an electoral college.
Last week, the Zimbabwe Standard reported that the electoral college will then appoint seven directors, while a Cricinfo source said these will be "not necessarily from within current set-up of Zimbabwe cricket". They will appoint a further six directors, but from names put forward by others from the provincial associations.
The latest development means that ZC can now go on to replace the incumbent interim board after "rectifying the flaws in some clauses", the source said. The board's tenure, which the SRC had earlier cut, was three weeks ago reduced following a joint ZC/ SRC roadmap which culminate in the election of new directors at a special general meeting on November 18.
It still has to be confirmed if the new substantive board will be in place by that date.
