Karachi, Aug 19: Three young Pakistani cricketers have breached
the board's code of conduct and, as such, face severe punishment,
a top Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official confirmed on
Saturday.
"I have come to know about the incident and it is a serious
breach of code of conduct. The players have come under serious
trouble," PCB Director Operations Yawar Saeed told SAMWOnline.
Sources said the three unnamed players invited girls to a
Lahore's five star hotel, who were followed by some men who
demanded money from the players and also threatened to publicize
the matter in case money was not paid.
"We have been collecting the facts and once we have them, we will
decide what the punishment should be," Saeed said.
Saeed did not comment on the extent of the punishment but did not
rule out a possible ban and a fine.
"The punishment should set a precedent for other players, so they
do not get involved in such practices," he said.
All the three players are currently touring Singapore with the
Pakistan team and will have to appear before the PCB on their
return.
"Naturally, it is a serious matter and we will decide what can be
done to maintain discipline when they are a part of the team,"
Saeed said.
