Shaun Pollock could return to the South African side for the final Test against West Indies in Antigua, starting on Friday. Pollock has missed the last five tests and three ODI's because of chronic inflammation of his left ankle.
He arrived in the Caribbean ahead of the third Test in Barbados but it was decided not to rush him back into the side. South Africa did not suffer from his absence, winning the match by an innings and 86 runs to claim the series with one match left. But with the Tests coming in a short space of time there are some niggles appearing in the South African camp so Pollock may be recalled.
"Even if he can give us 10 of 15 overs a day, that would be good," Ray Jennings, the South Africa coach, told Reuters."Monde (Zondeki) has a bit of a niggle with his thigh, and Nella [Andre Nel] has a sore back. I can't see more than one change in our team for the match."
Jennings is also conscious about not releasing any of the pressure his side has built up following their slow start in Guyana. After the Test in Antigua there is a five-match ODI series and Jennings wants his team to maintain their momentum. "I don't want to lose the pressure that we have put the Windies under. Their media are coming hard at them and there is a lot of pressure from the public on them, and we need to use it well with a view to the one-day series."
