Former Australian and Victorian fast bowler
Damien Fleming has today accepted an offer from the South Australian Cricket
Association to join the Redbacks squad for the next two years.
Fleming has played 20 Test matches for
Australia, with a bowling average of 25.89 and 88 One Day Internationals for
Australia with a bowling average 25.38.
The SACA is delighted to have attracted such
a respected cricketer and proven performer whos favorite ground is Adelaide
Oval, on which he has achieved some of his best performances.
"I'm very pleased that Damien has agreed to
join the Redbacks squad, he'll be an invaluable addition to our bowling
attack and I know that he still has a hunger to play international cricke
tin the future. We will give him every opportunity to achieve that goal,"
said State Manager of Cricket Greg Chappell.
In regard to other player matters, Chief
Executive Mike Deare said that he has advised the WACA this morning that the
SACA will release Paul Wilson from his contract immediately.
The SACA is still in the process of finalizing its
player list which has to be submitted to the ACB by June 6.
