UCBSA President Percy Sonn is pleased to announce that the Executive
Committee of the UCBSA has unanimously decided to support Bangladesh's
application for Full Member Status of the ICC when the ICC meets in June.
"At a meeting of the Executive Committee last Wednesday, we decided that
Bangladesh's application is consistent with the ICC's global policy.
Bangladesh has a strong cricket culture and a passion for the game at all
levels," said Adv Sonn.
UCBSA Managing Director Dr Ali Bacher said that Saber Chowdhury, President
of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, had visited South Africa recently and
studied the development programme here. "Mr Chowdhury has asked us to
assist
Bangladesh in developing the game there and we will gladly assist them,
particularly at grassroots level," said Dr Bacher.
Reacting to the support Bangladesh has received from South Africa, Mr
Chowdhury said: "The support and assistance of the UCBSA represents an
important step forward for Bangladesh cricket and I am delighted with the
news. The BCB looks forward to a close and productive working relationship
with the UCBSA."
