Mayors take part in cricket
P. Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya
The ten Mayors representing ten Municipal Councils together with
their heads of departments participated in a six-a-side softball
cricket encounter played at the Town Hall grounds here witnessed
by a large crowd, both locals and visitors.
A number of Mayors led their respective teams and among whom the
Mayors of Matale Rohan Dissanayake and Kandy's Mayor Harendra
Dunuwila displayed supremacy.
The tournament was organised by Summer Hill Club, sponsored by
Ceylon Brewery Limited who donated Rs. 42,000 for the tournament.
In the finals Colombo Municipal Council scored 41 runs against
Galle MC's 47 runs. The match was won by six runs by Galle MC.
Hotel Glendower presented Rs. 10,000 to the winner, while the man
of the match was adjudged from the Colombo MC team Premajanath,
who received a gold coin sponsored by Lalitha Jewellers.
Lake House in thrilling victory
Lake House Sports Club scored a thrilling one-wicket win over
Gesto CC Ahungalla in their third annual limited over cricket
encounter played at Ahungalla recently.
The winners received the Y.Sherman de Silva memorial trophy and
the match was sponsored by Abhaya medical centre, Balapitiya.

75, S.Sanjeewa 55, Lalitha Dharmasiri 66, N.Gunatilleke 51,

Best batsman - Sumedha Peiris (Lake House SC), best bowler -
Lalitha Dharmasiri (Gesto CC), best fielder - Upul, Man of the
