Moors will play Bloomfield in the second semi-final
On the recommendation of the tournament committee, the Sri Lanka
Cricket Board's executive committee decided that Moors SC will
play Bloomfield in the second semi-final of the division I
(Segment 'A') Sara trophy tournament.
The Ex-Co decided that Tamil Union's protest was only a request
to recheck the score sheets. The tournament committee found that
it was in order and thus, Moors SC qualify to play Bloomfield at
the SSC grounds on April 17, 18, 19.
The winner of this match will meet SSC in the final on April 30,
May 1, 2, 3 at the SSC grounds, where the winning team will
collect a cheque for Rs. 100,000 and the runner-up Rs. 80,000.
The Man of the tournament will receive Rs. 25,000, the Best
Batsman and Best Bowler of the Final, Rs. 10,000 each, and Man
of the Final, Rs. 20,000.
The Segment 'B' may turn out to be a straight final with the
winners collecting Rs. 100,000 and runner-up, Rs. 75,000.
Kalutara TC have already qualified for the final. The other
finalist will have to be decided between Nomads and Galle CC.
The tournament committee will have to decide on March 21 whether
to play a straight final or hold semi-finals as had been
promised by the past tournament committee chairman. - [S.T.]
Badulla Police inter-club cricket champs

Badulla Police and Dehigolla Madhya Maha Vidyalaya emerged
inter-club and inter-schools champions respectively at the
first-ever day and night six-a-side leather ball cricket
tournaments concluded at Mahiyangana Monday.
Sixteen teams in the inter-club tournament and 14 schools in the
inter-schools tournament participated at this tournament
organised by the Badulla District Sports Foundation.
Incidentally the finals of this tournaments were conducted at 5
a.m. and prizes were distributed around six in the morning.
Badulla Police beat Badulla Cricket Club in the finals of the
inter-club tournament and received the Nalanda Ellawela Memorial
Challenge trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 2,500 while Dehigolla
MMV beat Badulla MMV in the schools finals and carried away the
Dilan Perera Challenge Trophy and cash prize of Rs. 7,500.

wickets.
Dehigolla MMV beat Badulla MMV 'B' by 2 wickets.
Finals: Dehigolla MMV beat Badulla MMV 'A' by 4 wickets.
Badulla MMV 24 for 2 (Dileep Prasanga 8, R. Weerasinghe 9, Manoj
Kumara 1 for 1 and Wasantha Kumara 1 for 7).
Dehigolla MMV 28 for 1 (Manoj Kumara 9, S. Ananda 10, S.
Weerasinghe 1 for 1 and S. Mahangama 1 for 6).
Best Batsman: S. Ananda (Dehigolla MMV).
Best Bowler: Sameera Perera (Badulla MMV).
