* Sri Lanka is expected to play five specialised bowlers for
their first Test against India which starts in Mohali today.
Team sources said they plan to play two specialised spinners,
depending on the wicket for the opening match of the three-Test
series.
Leg spinner Jayantha Silva, who had a five-wicket haul in the
three-day warm up match, will join ace off spinner Muttiah
Muralitharan if the wicket takes spin. Wicket keeper batsman
Lanka de Silva is set to make his Test debut for Sri Lanka
today. Even in the pace department, the Lankans are still
undecided whether to play one or two bowlers to support
left-armer Chaminda Vaas.
* The Sri Lanka under 19 cricketers will play a series of three
Tests and three one-day internationals against their Indian
counterparts on their one month long tour of India commencing
November 23.
Sri Lanka U-19 team is due to arrive in India on November 23 and
their tour opener will be a three-day game to be played in
Hyderabad from November 25. The 1st Under 19 Test against India
will be played in Hyderabad from November Nov.30 to Dec. 3. The
second Youth Test between the two sides will be played from Dec.
6-9 in Bangalore and the final `Test' from Dec. 12-15 in
Ahmedabad. On conclusion of the three-match Youth Test Sri Lanka
and India will play an U-19 one day series. the dates are Dec.
18, 21 and 24. The team is expected to return to Sri Lanka on
the Christmas day.
* The tournament committee of the Old Benedictine Sports Club
unanimously decided not to hold this year's cricket quadrangular
as most of the cricketers will be busy in the international
scene and competing in the domestic cricket tournaments. The
next tournament will be held in August, next year.
