Consistent batting right down the line by St. Sylvester's College
batsmen helped them to total 200 all out on the opening day of their
inter-school cricket match against De Mazenod College, Kandy which
began yesterday at University grounds, Peradeniya.
Chanaka Wijesinghe was again in the runs top-scoring with 39. At
close De Mazenod College had replied with 100 for 5 with S. de Alwis
propping the innings with a useful 48 not out with 6 fours.

39, Ranga Dissanayake 36, Arosha Perera 24, S. Prematillake 22, T.

De Mazenod College 100 for 5 wkts in 30.5 overs (S. de Alwis 48 not

Poramadulla Central in three-wicket win

A devastating spell of medium pace bowling Malaka Wijesinghe who
captured 3 for 14 which included a hat-trick helped the little-known
Poramadulla Central College from Hanguranketha to score a
three-wicket win over the visiting YMCA Cricket Academy of Bangalore
in a limited over cricket match played at Hanguranketha yesterday.
This win by the Poramadulla cricketers in very creditable as they
took to cricket only a few years back following the encouragement
given by Sports Minister S. B. Dissanayake and a new cricket ground
is taking shape at Poramadulla.

Poramadulla Central College 144 for 7 in 23.4 overs (Malaka

Bangalore YMCA meet Khettarama CS today
The touring under 11 team from YMCA Cricket Academy, Bangalore will
take on Khettarama Cricket School under 11 team at 2 pm at the R.
Premadasa Stadium, today. This is the first time an under 11 cricket
team is touring Sri Lanka. The Bangalore team comprises Shree
Kaustur, Srinidhi, M.D.Amith, Sanjaya Sukumar, A. Bhat, A.Rahul,
C.Chandrajit, G.Rahul, N.B.Ravikiran, S.Ram, S.Babu, Chatur Alwis,
Rajindar Wijeratna, R.Shryas, D.Godwin, C.Vijay, C.Tejas and
S.Guptha.
The YMCA Cricket Academy has sent four teams on this tour: Under 11,
Under 14, Under 16, and Under 22. The Under 22 team will play Sri
Palee College team on January 29 at the College grounds.
