Talent search for bowlers in Kandy

The National Development Committee of the BCCSL will conduct a talent
spotting clinic for fast bowlers and spinners among the first XI
cricketers in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Kegalle today (Wednesday) at
the Asigiriya Stadium at 8.30 a.m.
At 1 p.m. there will be a seminar for senior and junior cricket
coachers which will be conducted by former Sri Lanka best cricketers
D. S. de Silva, Rumesh Ratnayake and Director, National Development
Committee, Malcolm Perera.
Ranga puts Sylvestrians in command
Kandy south group correspondent
St. Sylvester's College skipper Ranga Dissanayake with a fine
all-round performance put his team in a commanding position in their
Lemonade Cup schools cricket tournament match against Thurstan
College which began at Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be
continued today at 9.30 am.
Scores:
Thurstan College 215 all out in 69.3 overs (Nalaka de Silva 66,
Damith Indika 53 not out, T. Wickremasinghe 31, M. Faizal 16, Ranga
Dissanayake 5 for 53, Chanaka Wijesinghe 2 for 44, Arosha Perera 2
for 69).
St. Sylvester's College 107 for no loss in 23.3 overs (Ranga

Nalanda fail to force a win
Nalanda gained a handy first innings lead of 120 runs, but failed to
force a winning result in their schools cricket match against St.
Anthony's, Katugastota which ended in a draw at the NCC grounds
yesterday.

Navy beat Kurunegala SC on 1st innings
Sri Lanka Navy emerged victorious on the first innings against
Kurunegala Sports Club at Kurunegala in a Segment B Sara Trophy
cricket tournament match.
The highlight of the match was a superb bowling spell of Manjula
Dissanayake who grabbed 9 wickets for 53 runs.
Scores:
Kurunegala SC 179 all out (I. Basnayake 68, S. Ekanayake 42, I. D.
Silva 25, Manjula Dissanayake 7/46, Upula Bandara 2/19) and 46 for 3
at close (I. Basnayake 20, Manjula Dissanayake 2/6).
