Half-centuries by Chaminda Mendis (70) and Indika de Saram (50) helped Colts to get a first innings win in their Premier Division tournament game against BRC at BTC grounds yesterday.

In reply to BRC's 124, the Colts made 251 in their first innings. In their second innings, BRC made 42 for no wicket.

The match will be continued today at 10 am.

BRC 124 and 42 for no wkt (M. Rajapakse 23 not out, S. K. Perera 15 not out).

Though the CCC have already obtained first innings points from Bloomfield, this Premier Division cricket match could end in a thriller at Maitland Crescent today. CCC were bundled out for 142 in their first innings with Bloomfield too all out for a low 121. CCC in their second turn were 140 for 8 at close when bad light stopped play yesterday.

CCC's Indika Gallage was mainly responsible for his club getting a lead of 21 runs on the first innings when he finished with 5 for 45 in 16 overs. Then when CCC batted a second time, besides Bradman Ediriweera who made a half century (57), the rest of the batsmen failed against the wily spin of Sri Lanka "cap" Kumara Dharmasena who ended the day with 5 for 17.

Ajith Kumara slammed a fine century (127) on his debut for Air Force who were 302 for 8 in 88 overs at close yesterday in their Sara Trophy cricket tournament match against Nomads at Viharamahadevi Park yesterday.

With rain interrupting play twice, Singha who were 54 for no loss overnight went on to make 81 for 1 yesterday in reply to Kurunegala YCC's 189 in their Premier Division cricket tournament match at Kurunegala yesterday.

Kurunegala YCC 189 in 55.4 overs.

An unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 181 runs between Manoj Mendis (139 not out) and Nimesh Perera (100 not out) helped Sebastianites to make 485 for 4 wickets declared in their Premier Division cricket match against Wattala Antonians at De Soysa Stadium yesterday. At close of play which was early due to rain, Wattala Antonians made 173 for 5 wickets.

This was Nimesh Perera's second successive century. He made 112 against Galle last weekend.

There was another centurion - Sanjeewa Silva who made 131 on Friday for Sebastianites.

Sebastianites overnight 370 for 4 wkts - 485 for 4 wkts dec in 111.2 overs and 392 minutes (Manoj Mendis 139 not out, Nimesh Perera 100 not out).

Wattala Antonians 173 for 5 wkts at close (T. Siriwardena 27, B. Ekanayake 55, A. Hettiarachchi 26, U. Hettiarachchi 25 not out, Nimesh Perera 3 for 48).

The St. Joseph's vs St. Thomas' schools cricket match ended in a tame draw at Darley Road yesterday, but the Joes retained the Gilmour Jayasuriya Memorial Trophy. The Thomians made 259 for 7 declared in their first innings, while the Joes in turn too declared at 225 for 8. The Thomians in their second turn were 87 for 5 when bad light stopped play.

N. Z. Kanaka of S. Thomas' was adjudged the Man of the Match, while Ian Daniels of St. Joseph's was the Best batsman and I. Hettiaratchi also of St. Joseph's the Best Bowler.

S. Thomas' 259 for 7 declared (N. Z. Kanaka 92, G. A. Fernando 77, M. Pieris 21, I. Hettiaratchi 4 for 50, R. de Silva 2 for 49) and 87 for 5 at close (S. Caldera 46).

Good bowling by Wesleyite P. Chandrasekera who took 6 for 43 highlighted their inter-school cricket match with Trinity which was drawn yesterday at Asgiriya.

Trinity who were 83 for 2 wickets in reply to Wesley's first innings total of 161, were all out for 163 due to the bowling of Chandrasekera. For Trinity A. Imbuldeniya top-scored with 86.

Wesley 161 (R. Wijetunge 86, N. Balasuriya 28, S. Selvakuamr 2 for 46, C. Aluthge 4 for 24) and 68 for 2 wkts at close (R. Wijetunge 45).

Two half centuries by R. Pieris (81) and H. Fernando (62) helped Prince of Wales College to 232 and D. S. Senanayake College were 15 for no loss at close yesterday in their schools cricket match at Moratuwa.
