SWING bowler Callum Thorp has been placed on stand-by for the Western Warriors Pura Cup game against Queensland starting at the WACA Ground tomorrow.
Thorp, 27 made an impressive interstate debut in Thursday's day-night ING Cup match against the Bulls, when he took 1-48 from nine overs.
He has been included in a 13-man squad to cover paceman Matthew Nicholson, who is suffering a viral infection.
Nicholson, 28, will be examined by medical staff before training today when a decision will be made on his fitness to play a four-day match.
The Warriors squad is:
Jo Angel (Captain), Murray Goodwin (v-captain), Beau Casson, Michael Clark, Kade Harvey, Scott Meuleman, Matthew Nicholson, Marcus North, Chris Rogers, Luke Ronchi, Callum Thorp, Adam Voges and Paul Wilson.
Fast bowler Brad Williams was not available for the Warriors match following his selection for Australia `A' to play against Sri Lanka in Adelaide on Tuesday, January 7, 2003.
Williams replaces injured Bulls fast bowler Ashley Noffke, who has a broken right index finger.
The Bulls team is:
Michael Kasprowicz (c), Brendan Nash, Daniel Payne, Lee Carseldine, Stuart Law, Clinton Perren, James Hopes, Wade Seccombe, Adam Dale, Joe Dawes, Matthew Anderson and Nick Kruger.
The Warriors and Bulls will train at the WACA Ground on Friday, January 3, 2003 in final preparation for the Pura Cup game.
Tomorrow's match starts at 11am (Gates open at 10am). Umpires for the game are Ian Lock and Andrew Craig.
