Peshawar, March 7: Former captain Wasim Akram has been told to join the training camp under progress at the KRL Ground in Rawalpindi, sources said. The objective behind asking Akram to attend the camp is to provide him opportunity to test his fitness and earn from practice ahead of the third Test against Sri Lanka starting in Karachi from March 12.
Akram, 17 wickets short of joining the 400-wicket club in Tests, bowled just 13 deliveries in Rawalpindi where Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by a narrow margin of two wickets.
Ijaz Ahmad, overlooked for the home series, is also attending the camp at KRL. The officials said Ijaz would be considered for selection for the future tours. Ehteshamuddin, member selection committee, is supervising the camp.
