The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has postponed its sixth Annual General Meeting to August 7, in order to give regional boards a chance to file their nominations for the posts of president and vice-president. This postponement came after a unanimous resolution of the members. The meeting was originally scheduled for July 16 in St Maarten.
The WICB constitution required the nominations to be submitted at least 30 days before the date of the annual meeting. Teddy Griffith, the WICB president, announced last week that he would be unavailable to accept nomination to a second term, citing personal and family considerations. Both the president and vice-president, currently held by Val Banks, will be elected at the meeting.
However, no nominations for either post had been submitted to the WICB at the time of
the deadline with respect to the original meeting date. The names doing the rounds in the media as potential candidates for job are Tony Marshall, Ken Gordon, Deryck Murray and Clive Lloyd.
