Noel Ferguson was an opening medium-pace bowler and late middle-order batsman who played for Ireland five times over 13 years. His debut came in the annual match against Scotland in 1951 but he had to wait 11 years for another first-class outing, but for two years thereafter he was a regular in the side. His best return came against the Scots in 1962 when he took 6 for 37 in a five-wicket defeat.
