Bustling in, full length and straightens a touch at off, pushes it along the carpet to long-on and that means Desert Vipers romp their way to the final with a massive 45-run win.
Vipers vs MI Emirates, Qualifier 1 at Abu Dhabi, ILT20, Dec 30 2025 - Match Result
Thank you for your company tonight. Join us on 1st January for the Eliminator between Knight Riders and Dubai Capitals. Until then, it's goodnight and bye from all of us :)
Andries Gous, Player of the Match: It was pretty special out there for me. Not often you get a chance to score a hundred, so yeah, really special. Especially after the 6th over, we needed to make sure we took care of this wind and Fakhar batted brilliantly; he made it easier for me. Maybe after the powerplay we thought about 190-200 and then Sam played an unbelievable knock to get us up to 230
420 runs scored on this beautiful pitch, delivering a high-scoring entertaining contest. Desert Vipers lived up to their credo and showed why they are on top of the table. There was a big gulf between the two sides and a disernable difference in both quality and variety in their bowling attacks. The Pakistani contingent in the Vipers team inflicted most of the damage, with Tariq picking up three wickets and Naseem being miserly in his spell, conceding only 5 runs per over. Khuzaima was tight as well, but they will need to tidy up a bit more in the final as a bowling unit, where the margin for error gets slim. Earlier, Gous slammed an unbeaten 120, perfectly complemented by Fakhar, who went on a run rampage. Curran provided the much-needed impetus to the innings. MI Emirates started well, meeting fire with fire as Waseem and Banton launched a boundary barrage. But as soon as they got out, the asking rate climbed exponentially, and the Vipers applied the stranglehold. MI Emirates will get another bite at the cherry, with time to reflect, regroup, restrategize, and come back strongly in Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator
Full-toss hits on the unmentionables, wanted to smoke it over deep square, early through the shot, ball swung in the air
ouch! that hit on the front of the helmet, excellent spiteful bumper and he tries to take it on, loaded for a pull and it was right towards his eyeline, wanted to bail out of the shot and it was already too late, fist bump between bowler and batter, there will be a mandatory concussion check
Fires in an excellent inswinging yorker, goes past his legs to the keeper
Over the wicket, fuller length on middle, hoisted away to deep midwicket
Good length and floating outside off, play and a miss
On a length and slanting across off, unleashes a powerful tonk down the ground and gets another blistering boundary into the gap at long-on, 39 off 19
inside edge and beats the keeper, wanted to big downtown and lost his balance, lucky to be out there
on a length or thereabouts, plenty of width, chomped into the gap at deep extra cover, couple of bounces over the rope, terrific striking
Presses it down to mid-off and a tumbling stop keeps them down to one
Short and wide, throws his bat at it and connects well enough to earn a four of the top edge, Naseem knows he could have dived better, made the ground but the finishing work wasn't too tidy at deep third
Hung in the air for a while and Joy snaffles it at long-off. Was a full-toss dipping at off, Roy swoops to his right and takes it head height
Noble: "I am not sure why Polard underestimating Shakib in respect of playing condition. Shakib has been given just one over two ball this high scoring first innings where Shakib was the most economic bowler in the previous match. Also Shakib is not going to bat though 5 wickets already been down. Is it something clash of ego? Disappointed! "
msa: "a bumrah esque spell by Naseem this."
pace-on snorter of a bouncer on middle, he ducks underneath, Sam Curran has been expensive tonight, conceded 48 in three overs
Slower fuller one arcing back in at middle, down on one knee and forces it to deep backward square
lands it full and wide of off, gets down low and plinked out up and over extra cover for four, deserved a promotion up the order
Low full-toss on middle, spanked, brings his wrists into play and gets low to thrash it away to cow corner, Roy with a desperate attempt to prevent a boundary but the ball wins the race
Manufactures pace for himself and pumps it up for a sisx, half-volley on middle, hits it through the line and clears long-on, leant forward and had a strong base to hit
Over the wicket, shorter rising ball at shoulder, rocks back and deposited over deep square for a 91 meters six!
Curling it in from a shorter length, fifth stump line, mishits it down to long-on, vipers on their way to book a direct ticket to the final and they have got their eyes locked on the silverware
follows his leg-side shimmy and bowls a good-ish length ball into his pads, tucked away towards midwicket
