game over! Kulasekara hits a length, too wide, Duminy gets under the ball and drives it over mid-off to seal victory by six wickets
Sri Lanka vs South Africa, at London, Jun 03 2009 - Ball by Ball Commentary
South Africa won by 6 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
Sri Lanka did well to take it into the final over but their batting effort was to blame for this defeat. A poor batting card. Plenty of poor shots against a revved-up attack. It wasn't enough to defend. South Africa lost their openers to the quicks early but Gibbs and AB stitched together a match-winning stand. Malinga, Udana and Kulasekara bowled well. So thats it from us. Thanks for tuning in.

Cheerio!
Duminy takes guard. Boucher has played well. Kulasekara will bowl the last over.
Two boundaries and the scores are leveled.
skips out and collects on the full, driving straight and very hard
straighter ball, no turn, he gets back and works it away to the on side
fuller in length and he laces a drive, gets a thick edge to third man
flat delivery out the side of the hand, he goes back and defends
tossed up on off stump and he comes well forward to drive to cover
slowly looped up on leg stump and Duminy turns it away for one
Mendis returns for his last over.
good one, slow and straight and Boucher goes back and somehow manages to bring his bat down on the ball, thats terrific death bowling and Malinga bowls out
Gibbs' innings ends. He played slowly but set South Africa up. They need ten from 13 balls.
leg stump takes a walk! Thats a clever slower ball from Malinga, no room at all, its very straight and deceives Gibbs as he yet again backs away, good bowling this
confident shot, gives himself room and drives a dead straight full delivery into the covers to raise the 100 for South Africa
yorker outside off stump, swinging away, Gibbs makes room and reaches out to squeeze the ball away square on the off side
ah thats lucky for Gibbs and difficult for Sangakkara! Malinga slides one down leg stump as Gibbs makes room to drive, it misses everyone and runs to fine leg
good short ball on leg stump, Duminy tries to turn it away but the ball drops at his feet, Gibbs calls for the manic single, Malinga collects and takes aim at the other end but misses and so Duminy survives
Good over for South Africa. Malinga will finish off his spell. South Africa need 17 from 18 balls.
another dance down, another heave across the line, not timed well but Gibbs picks the gap and two fielders runs across, its the man coming in from deep mid-on who collects
fired in flat and fast and he clips it away for a single
now he drives inside-out over the covers for a single
skips out and swats this one over midwicket for a one-bounce four
oh ho ho another drop right on the boundary edge! Gibbs dances out and lofts the ball straight, very high too, Silva runs across to long-off, grabs it, but drops it as he loses balance, luckily he didn't parry it over the ropes
starts off short and wide so Duminy cuts it between the covers
South Africa need 28 from 24. Malinga and Mendis have an over each. But it will be Dilshan instead.
good bowling, right up there, very full, and Gibbs digs it out
