As it happened: IPL 2022 - Lucknow Super Giants vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, DY Patil Stadium
By Sidharth MongaSRH fall off the cliff
They had the chase under control till Pooran batted but that Avesh Khan over ended it for them. Last three overs: 20 runs, five wickets. SRH become the first team to lose two matches after winning the toss this year. They continue to be a team suited to conditions where 140 is par, something they failed to address at the auction.
KL Rahul makes a rare show of emotion now that they have found a way to win despite putting on a middling score. KL Rahul's strike rate is a conversation best left to another day. Thanks for joining us. See you tomorrow.

High full toss
With LSG staring at defeat, a thigh-high full toss on off stump does the trick for Avesh Khan. Nicholas Pooran holes out to long-off. He just doesn't have the room. And Avesh follows it up with a golden duck for Abdul Samad. Toe end almost on the big drive, and it carries through to the keeper. That second wicket drops the win probability from 54% to 35%.
Romario Shepherd just about keeps out the hat-trick ball, an accurate yorker. Avesh has turned this game around. He ends up with figures of 4-0-24-4, leaving SRH 26 to get off the last two overs.

SRH favourites again
For the first time in a long time, the win probability for SRH is above 50%. That is thanks to two boundaries in the Jason Holder over, and now they need just 50 in the last five. Nicholas Pooran is the key man in this game now.

Pandya keeps LSG ahead
Krunal Pandya comes back for his final over with 75 required off the last seven. But with his first ball, he has Tripathi caught bat deep midwicket for 44 off 30. That one wicket has brought down SRH's win probability from 30% to 20%.

Pandya, Bishnoi bring LSG back
Ravi Bishnoi bowls the 10th over without a boundary, and Krunal Pandya gets the wicket of Aiden Markram in the 11th. Markram is looking to clear extra cover but can't. The win probability is down to 38% for SRH.

Tripathi, Markram swing it SRH's way
It's mainly Rahul Tripathi, though, with 33 off 18. The partnership is 39 in under four overs, and at 77 for 2 in nine overs, the win probability has shot up to 61%.

Avesh Khan's powerplay
Avesh adds Abhishek Sharma's wicket to Williamson's, making it 40 for 2 at the end of the field restrictions. That leaves them a 30% chance of winning.

Williamson takes the ramp back home
Kane Williamson tries one against Jason Holder and manages to hit it for a six, but when he tries to repeat it to Avesh Khan, his pad comes in the way, lobbing it up for an easy catch at short fine leg. SRH 25 for 1 in 3.3 overs. Their win probability falls to 41%

Why is Krunal Pandya opening the bowling?
Because Kane Williamson is opening the batting. The match-up is 20 balls, 13 runs, two wickets. Make it four more balls and three more singles as Williamson refuses to take any risk in the second over. SRH 11 for 0. Their win probability 42%

Target 170
From 27 for 3, LSG end up with 169 but Deepak Hooda is not very pleased. He wanted to stay there till the end and "catch up". He still scored 51 off 33 so he did a superb job. He feels it is a decent total because "into-the-wicket" balls are not coming onto the bat. How much of a role will dew play?

Yorker kings
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan bowls a spate of yorkers in the 18th and the 19th overs to pull back LSG. There are two wickets for Natarajan to show for the good work. Rahul lbw when trying to sweep a full ball, and Krunal Pandya losing his leg stump to a pin-point yorker. LSG 152 for 6. Projected score 163. Shdephed to bowl the last over.

Fifties for Rahul and Hooda
But Hooda is out immediately after to the excellent use of hard lengths from Romario Shepherd. LSG 120 for 4 in 16 overs. Projected score 162 but warning: Rahul scores two a ball at the death in the IPL. Anything is possible.

LSG go after Malik again
Hooda is playing a blinder here for LSG, which has allowed Rahul to take his time too. Hooda has played seven deliveries fewer than Rahul but has scored more than him. He has gone past Rahul's 47 with a 16-4un 14th over, using Malik's pace to hit two fours and a six. LSG 108 for 3. Projected score 167.

LSG finally break free
Umran Malik's pace is his friend. But it can be his foe too. KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda use the pace to score 20 off the 10th over. They even had a man placed fine for the ramp, but his pace just took it over the bar. That makes it 68 for 3 in 10 overs. Projected score still 157.

SRH's powerplay
Romario Shepherd has added the wicket of Manish Pandey to this great start for SRH. It's 32 for 3 at the end of the powerplay. Projected score is 151 now.

Sweep, sweep, sweep, gone
Three sweeps from Evil Lewis against Washington Sundar, and he has missed all three. He survived by an umpire's call on the first, but the finger went up on the third. LSG 17 for 2. Projected score 151.

Washington back with the new ball
Washington Sundar made name for himself by opening the bowling in T20s for Pune Super Giants and stifling the batters. Then he got picked up by different teams, and didn't find enough opportunities to take the new ball. This is the first time in more than a year that he is opening the bowling, and immediately he has got the left-hand batter Quinton de Kock. And Evin Lewis has survived an lbw on an umpire's call. The new ball missed you, Washington.
LSG 8 for 1 in two overs. Projected score 158.

Unchanged SRH bowl, LSG welcome Holder
Sunrisers have won the important toss on a green pitch and elected to bowl. Remember they were the first team to lose despite winning the toss this IPL. They started off well with the moving ball, but let RR off the hook with no-balls. Similar help expected here, and SRH will want to create those opportunities again. They are unchanged.
LSG have made just the one change: Jason Holder in for Dushamntha Chameera. So they have gone for Andrew Tye ahead of Chameera.
Lucknow Super Giants 1 KL Rahul (capt.), 2 Quinton de Kock (wk), 3 Manish Pandey, 4 Evin Lewis, 5 Deepak Hooda, 6 Ayush Badoni, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 Jason Holder, 9 AJ Tye, 10 Ravi Bishnoi, 11 Avesh Khan
Sunrisers Hyderabad 1 Kane Williamson (capt.), 2 Abhishek Sharma, 3 Rahul Tripathi, 4 Nicholas Pooran (wk), 5 Aiden Markram, 6 Abdul Samad, 7 Romario Shepherd, 8 Washington Sundar, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Umran Malik, 11 T Natarajan
