Short of a length and straight at the stumps, maneuvered away to short midwicket, not off the middle, and that'll be that. Gulf Giants hold their nerve and get over the line. The don't stumble, stutter, err tonight and will be ecstatic to collect two points. It's been a comprehensive win and a brilliantly paced run-chase!
Warriorz vs Giants, 21st Match at Sharjah, ILT20, Jan 26 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Giants won by 6 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
It was a smooth run-chase without major hiccups. Alsop held the innings together, put a hefty price on his wicket, stayed till the end and played a mature knock. His 85-run knock broke the back of the chase and he navigated his way through choppy waters. Tom Curran's nuggety contribution shouldn't go unnoticed as he complemented Alsop brilliantly and kept ticking along nicely. The timely hits towards the end changed the momentum of the game and now things are looking up for Gulf Giants. Sharjah Warriors were in the game at many stages and there wasn't much separating both teams. That's it from us for today's doubleheader. We hope to see you tomorrow for more ILT20 action. For now, it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid, and the rest of the crew at ESPNcricinfo. Goodnight!
Tim Southee, Sharjah Warriors Captain: It was a pretty good score. I think we had enough runs on the board and the way we bowled, it was good for the majority of that
James Vince, Gulf Giants Captain: It was a big weekend for us to get back into the competition, nice to get back into the mix. Last night, it felt conditions were ideal for (spinners). Seam dominated so felt like it was the right way for these conditions. Hopefully we are building momentum at the right time
Tom Alsop, Player of the Match: It was good, nice to send time out there...nice to contribute to win. Obviously, very different conditions from last night, just tried to soak in pressure and grind out. Today it was a bit more batter friendly. It's good besides the jet lag...feeling good. (on spinners) I think for bowlers, there was little margin of error, wasn't much for the spinners
Back of a length, slanted across off, firmly cut away to third up in the ring. Scores are level
Dsouza with a tumbling sliding save at deep backward point, superb effort, he loves fielding! Shortish and wide of off, slapped behind point
Nuzzled away to deep midwicket for a run
Around the wicket, yorker on fifth stump line, spanks it away to sweeper cover, Dsouza makes a rare mistake and fumbles and that allows them to take another run. But he is a great, great fielder with a good head on the shoulders; everybody is allowed a rare lapse and he is livid with himself
Fuller on middle, lashing it downtown and long-on cuts it off but can't prevent the duo from pinching a couple, down to run-a-ball
Low full-toss on middle, eased to long-on for a run; Vince still has a serious look on his face, I think he can relax now
Larruped it high over deep midwicket for a six. He is just firing it in and not giving any sort of flight and not looking to turn the ball, it was length on middle and he deposited it into the stands
Clattered away to deep cover-point for a run
Around the wicket, speared it quick but outside leg-stump, superb take from Seifert. Foot is planted and the third umpire adjudges it not out
Full and angling into the pads, raps him on the pads; ball flutters in front of square to the off side and the pair sneak a bye
Sends it miles over backward square for six! Shortish on middle and leg, plants his front leg and punishes the loose delivery, turning out be a big game-changing over.
Short and wide across off, reaches out and dabs it away to cover; scampered single, dicey call. Pace-off delivery; Roy with the throw
Looking for the wide yorker, just marginally outside tramline on off
Spears it full and slanted across off, gets behind and chomps it down the ground, beats long-on and that will certainly give him a feel-good factor and release pressure
Touch short on the body, labored pull to square leg, Dsouza in action again; he has been a livewire in the field; the youthful exuberance and never-ending supply of energy
Short on the stumps and he pulls it away along the ground towards deep midwicket. Anybody's game
Goes for a fuller googly; he gets down on one knee and goes for a massive slog sweep; Milne covers plenty of distance towards his left and puts in a valiant dive and saves a boundary. Zampa has done his job and kept his side pretty much alive
Low full-toss wide of off, crunched to extra cover, missed out on a freebie
Worked away into the gap at midwicket region; turning out to be a good over for Warriors
