Round the wicket, yorker at middle, hammered past cover for a boundary, staggering shot. With this resounding win, Multan Sultans have qualified for the PSL 9 playoffs!
Sultans vs Kings, 19th Match at Karachi, PSL, Mar 03 2024 - Match Result
That's all from us today. Join us again tomorrow for the match between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. For now, it's goodbye and goodnight from Rvel Zahid
Usman Khan, Player of the Match: I try to give my 100% regardless of where I bat in the order. I look to play ball in the V, and I don't miss singles, always keep that in mind, make sure to capitalise on the loose balls. Our coaches tell us to keep fours and sixes in mind. Zahid bowled three good overs and we're looking to target him in his last
Multan Sultans have become the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs!
Multan Sultans were superb tonight and delivered another emphatic victory over the hapless Karachi Kings--who couldn't match the quality of Multan Sultans. Masood got off to a sedate start, Seifert and Vince departed early in the piece and thereon Malik hung around for 38, but there was not enough firepower in the tank to take the game deep. With no Kieron Pollard in the mix, it was an uphill task to chase down 190. Multan's bowling was magnificent as usual; spinners stymied the run-flow in the middle overs, and Chris Jordan was exceptional with his yorkers, while David Willey suffocated batters with his cunning cutters. Mohammad Ali was a little expensive, taking into account the high standards he has set for himself, but everyone is allowed to have a few suboptimal days at the office. All in all, the execution from the bowling attack was top-class. The night belongs to Usman Khan, though; he is such a joy to watch. He is the kind of batter who dictates terms and can change the complexion of the game in a matter of a few overs. The franchises representing the two biggest metropolises of Pakistan, Karachi and Lahore, are both languishing at the bottom, reminiscent of the state of affairs in earlier editions
Khurseed Sheikh: "Yeah, I'm a great fast bowler, one of the greatest player of my club, I'm handy with the bat too !"
Ammar: "I do play cricket actively as I'm in Pakistan and 12."
Mazahir: "Why Sharjeel Khan is not playing this season?"
Ajamal : "I believe MS may not win this, as they will run out of energy. India were favourite to win but lost after winning 10 games." You are comparing high-profile ICC event with league cricket, not sure if it's a fair comparison
Do you actively play cricket apart from watching?
This time Tayyab Tahir hangs onto it brilliantly, he didn't have to move much on this occasion. Was shortish just outside off, didn't hit with so much aplomb and has to take the long walk back to the pavilion
Tayyab Tahir drops the skier at deep midwicket, charged in from the deep and overran, was a slow back of a length ball outside off, that was launched in the air and didn't get enough distance
Fast and furious yorker tailing in at middle, beaten by the pace, off the pads to cover
Round the wicket, short of a length, outside off, clouts it in the air and it flutters away to the rope, two fielders converging in the deep and he places it between them
Oh, we're already in the last over. Round the wicket, speared fuller at leg, tries to flick and is late through the shot
Going, going, going and gone miles over deep midwicket for a six! What a beautiful sound of the bat, a short slow ball at the stumps, he vented at it and hit a humongous six
Full-blooded yorker on middle, makes room and carves it to cover
Full and swaying away from off, opens the blade to guide it behind but gets beaten, Jordan wins on this occasion
Bustling in and goes for another yorker and this time there is more room on offer, too predictable with yorker ploy? He slashes it past point for a blistering boundary
Over the wicket, yorker speared away from off stump, backed away and tries to reach but can't connect
Pushed away off the backfoot into the empty spaces at deep midwicket
Jrm: "Lahore and Karachi are the teams that ain't going to make it to the playoffs. Backing multan to win this year."
Over the wicket, searing yorker but there is width, connected to sweeper cover and runs back for the second
Dawood : "12.6, 13.4 and 13.6 it has been mentioned that Rizwan is at cover position. So who is the keeper then?" Usman Khan
Has an airy waft it and clears cover but doesn't clear the rope, was short and wide, asking for trouble
Pace off shortish ball in the nettlesome channel outside off, play and a miss
Hits the deck hard and the ball kicks off the surface at off stump line, tough to get power behind it given the length and angle, pushes it aerially towards long-on
Round the wicket again, back of a length, whooshing away in the channel, not that pacy and beats his pull across the line
Almost a half-volley just outside off, hefty blow over long-off, got right under it
Shuffles across his stumps and plays a cheeky scoop over shot fine for a four, that is a brilliant shot! Improvisation at its very best! It was too short and there's wasn't pace to ruffle him so he got plenty of time to get into a comfortable position and he placed it in the gap
Yorkers have been spot-on throughout the match, pushed to long-on off the backfoot
