huge swipe across the line from Broad, and Gul has made a mess of his stumps! Gul seals the game with his fourth wicket
England vs Pakistan, 4th ODI at London, Sep 20 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Pakistan have squared the series with a 38-run win, and their satisfaction is evident. Shoaib is hopping around like a youngster! We will be heading to the Rose Bowl on Wednesday with this series well and truly alive. It seemed as though off-field distractions had finally caught up with Pakistan as they struggled through a lacklustre first innings before Abdul Razzaq's late rollicking cameo boosted their score into competitiveness.
Andrew Strauss and Steve Davies then gave England a great platform with a positive 113-run opening stand but once they were separated Pakistan kept chipping away, knowing that reverse swing could prove decisive at the close of the innings under lights. Against the odds, they're clawed their way back from 2-0 and, with everything that's occurred off the field, there is bound to be continued interest ahead of the final game of the series. Stick with us for the post-match interviews and Man of the Match award.
First things first, Billy Doctrove gets an award for standing in his 100th match. Andrew Strauss: "Razzaq played exceptionally well and gave them some real momentum. We looked like we had the game under control but we couldn't keep our momentum going and Pakistan bowled really well with the old ball. We've got to look at where we went wrong, and we'll be doing that tomorrow. Pakistan have got a lot of matchwinners in their side, but it's important to remember it's 2-2 and winner takes all at the Rose Bowl."
Shahid Afridi: "250 was a very good total on this track, and I knew I had the bowlers to defend this total." Afridi has praise for all of his bowlers, giving them all a mention and adding: "The boys really performed to the best of their ability, and this is what Pakistan is really all about. Shoaib is 34, 35, he'll get some rest tomorrow but he's a fighter and he'll definitely play in the next game."
Abdul Razzaq is Man of the Match. "I wasn't feeling well, I had a sore back and that's why I missed the first two matches. When you play county cricket in England you get experience and it really helps in these situations. We had a plan at the end, I was waiting for those two overs."
And that's just about all from us. There's a tremendous gallery for you to marvel at, and Andrew McGlashan's bulletin is also well worth a perusal. We've still got a very important game to play in this series, so please do join us for that, with ESPNcricinfo's coverage starting at 13.00GMT, 14.00 local time on Wednesday. I'll leave you with this: Goodbye!
nicely played by Anderson, glancing out to deep square leg for two runs
great yorker! Broad digs it out to mid-on and they scamper through
another slower ball - even slower this time - and Broad inside edges a drive into his boot
slower ball, not picked by Broad but his bat ends up in the right place anyway. More a case of ball hitting bat there!
a low full toss flung down at leg stump, Broad digs it out to Afridi at midwicket
tapped infront of point, Broad wants a single but Anderson sends him back
Akhtar is going to bowl his last over
back of a length, slamming into the thigh and bouncing to gully
Gul is now the leading wicket-taker in the series with 10 scalps to his name
Anderson's done well to keep that out! Another very low, dipping full toss and curves late towards the left-hander's toes, but he jams the bat down to keep it out
slower ball, offcutter, and Swann is bowled! He's been bowling such fantastic reverse-swinging yorkers, Swann won't have been expecting that and he's cleaned up! Pakistan are almost there now
low, dipping full toss swings back in very late! It was pacy too, but Broad swung hard and sent the ball out to deep midwicket
swinging back in to the left-hander, but the line is all wrong and the ball swerves down the leg side. That's wide
full and swinging again, drilled down to long-on
full and swinging in towards leg stump, Swann heaves out into the leg side and sprints back for the second
Shoaib, who looks like he's "being held together with sticking plaster" as Atherton points out, has done a fantastic job in this game to come back from an erratic opening spell and pick up vital wickets. His first three overs went for 30!
quick yorker on middle, dug out back to the bowler by Broad
how has he kept that out? Perfect inswinging yorker but Swann jams the bat down just in time to keep it out
Swann finds the boundary! Slashing up and over short third man
"I know there are some bad apples in Pakistan Cricket team and management, but you have to appreciate the effort the team is putting in here," says Adnan. "With all the negative stuff going on, and losing the first 2 ODI, this is a very good comeback. Hard for us Pakistani Cricket fans to abandon this team due to the action of few."
hooping inswinging full toss, it slips down the leg side and though Kamran gets a hand to it he can't cut it off completely
gone! Morgan tries to slam this down the ground, but slices underneath the ball to send a steepling chance ... to Mohammad Yousuf, of all people! Yousuf has not had the best summer in the field but he's held onto a very tough chance. The two oldest men on the field - on most fields these days - combine to give their team a very strong chance of levelling this series. Pakistan immediately form a huddle, they're pumped up now
Shoaib is still gripping his left side between deliveries, he's suffering
dipping, inswinging full toss heading towards middle. Swann doesn't try to do too much with it, just pushing into the off side for one
