flighted on off stump, the ball floats through really slowly, Utseya stays at the crease and lofts high over the bowler's head
Pakistan vs Zimbabwe, 1st ODI at Karachi, Jan 21 2008 - Ball by Ball Commentary
We have a few records here. The eight half-centuries is a world record for most fifties in a match and Pakistan's five is a record for a single innings.
The match was lost after Sibanda's dismissal and the passage of play that followed - with the spinners bowling in tandem - was pointless at best. Zimbabwe made no effort to gain some confidence and push the score past the psychological target of 250, at least. It was quite farcical seeing the part-timers rush through their overs, when the seamers still had eight left.
For Pakistan's debutants, Nasir Jamshed had a good game, though he will need to temper his aggression against tougher opponents. Samiullah Khan Niazi wasn't sensational, but will be pleased with the fact that the captain allowed him his full quota of overs.
Jamshed has another reason to smile tonight because he's the Man of the Match as well.
That's it from us today. Do join us for the second one-dayer in Hyderabad on January 24. It's a day game so please note the start timings - 9.15 local time (4.15 GMT).
This is Kanishkaa signing off. Cheers!
Last ball of the match coming up
gives it more air, pushed to long-on
goes on the back foot and punches to long-off
flighted on leg, tucked to midwicket. That brings up his fifty and the zillionth of the match
gives it more air, meets it on the full and drives to long-on
short and just wide outside off, cut to the off side and an overthrow gets Williams back on strike
Just one more over, for formalities' sake
full and wide outside off, driven to the sweeper cover fielder, he'll get the strike and have a shot at his fifty
flighted on middle and leg, gets on his knee and sweeps to deep square leg
pitches on a good length on middle, he stays back and picks the fielder in the deep on the on side
pushed to the off side for a single
the straighter and quicker one, he stays back and tucks it with his wrists to the on side
turned to the on side for a single
We're going through the motions here. Younis gets yet another over!
flighted outside the off stump, driven just wide of cover, long-off cuts it off
flighted outside off, pushed to the off side
pitches it short of a length outside off, he stays back and cuts to sweeper cover
full outside off, driven through the line to long-off
flighted on off and middle, the lack of pace allows Williams to step down, meet the pitch of the ball and loft over midwickwet
