  • It was 24rd match between these two sides at Sharjah. The record now reads: India 6,Pakistan 18.
  • Umpire Peter Manuel and Daryl Harper were officiating in their 29th and 21st match respectively.
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq scored his seventh ODI hundred in his 212th matchhis second against India. Among the Pakistani batsman only Saeed Anwar (17 in 200), Ijaz Ahmed (10 in 245), Rameez Raja (9 in 198), Javed Miandad (8 in 233) have scored more hundreds than Inzamam. (Zaheer Abbas also has a tally of 7 hundreds from just 62 matches).
  • Inzamam's innings is the highest for Pakistan against India at Sharjah obliterating Javed Miandad's 116* on 18-04-1986. Incidentally Inzamam's previous highest against India also Came at Sharjah when he scored 107 on 08-04-1999.
  • Inzamam's five sixes in the match are the most by any batsman against India at Sharjah. Pakistan's Wasim Akram and England's Nick Knight had hit four sixes on 15-10-1989 and 11-04-1999 respectively.
  • Inzamam has now scored 6742 runs in 212 matches, which puts him on the tenth place among the leading run-scorers in ODIs. He replaced West Indian Viv Richards who has a tally of 6721 runs from 187 matches on his name.
  • The unbroken partnership of 151 runs between Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana is Pakistan's best for fourth wicket against India for any wicket at Sharjah. The previous best was 140 run partnership between this same pair also for fourth wicket on 08-04-1999. The pair, however, failed to beat Pakistan's alltime highest fourth wicket stand against India which still remains as 163 (unbroken) between Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq at Mohali on 01-04-1999.
  • Rahul Dravid, on 21, completed his 4000 runs in ODIs in his 124th match (117th innings). He became seventh Indian and 36th batsman overall to do so.
  • Waqar Younis captured five wickets in a match for the 10th time in his careerhis first such haul against India. Waqar's previous best in a match against India was 4 for 42 also at Sharjah on 27-04-1990.
  • Interestingly Pakistan has won on all except one occasion when ever Waqar captured five or more wickets in a match. The lone exception was against New Zealand at Auckland on 13-03-1994 when Waqar had the figures of 6 for 30 but the match was tied.
  • India has never won a match against Pakistan at Sharjah chasing a target of 250 plus. The highest target achieved by India against Pakistan is just 206 (for four) on 13-04-1999. Incidentally India's highest total against Pakistan at Sharjah batting second is 253 for six in 50 overs on 23-10- 1991 (India lost that match by 4 runs).
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis won their 18th and 12th award respectively. For the first time two players shared the award in a match at Sharjah
