THE saying that "things brown" has taken on a new meaning.
That's because the runs are flowing from Courtney Browne's bat in Courts/Suzuki Division 1 cricket.
Yesterday, he scored his second century of the season, an attractive 104 to place BET in a commanding position against BCL. Browne struck nine fours and one five during a stay of 165 minutes.
Before this season Browne had only scored one Division I century (in 1991) in about 10 seasons.
All-rounder Adrian Brathwaite batted soundly for 49 with seven fours before he edged an intended cut to wicket-keeper Brian Neblett.
Captain Brian Johnson gave good support in a knock of 48 in 66 minutes with two sixes and four fours before he miscued a pull to midwicket.
For BCL, Richard Riley was the day's most successful bowler taking two for 36.
Left with a minimum of 11 overs, BCL lost Sherwyn Codrington for two but Richard Riley (18 not out) batted soundly with Dave Clarke to see the BCL to the end and requiring 143 to make BET bat again.
