The equipment is to be given to, and distributed to the cricketers of Afghanistan by the ACF. The equipment, including bats, balls, protective equipment, whites and two Flicx artificial pitches has been collected by one of the British Embassy staff members, Mr Andrew Banks. Mr Banks is the Development Officer of the Afghanistan Cricket Federation.
All the equipment had been generously donated by various individuals, companies (including Gray Nicholls and Flicx UK) and several of the English First-Class Counties.
Mr Nash also presented the Afghan National Cricket team players with off-field uniforms donated by the British Embassy. Each player was also presented an ACF tie, an item generously donated by Tie-Rack.
Also present were representatives of the ACF, players from the Afghan National Team, members of the Afghan Olympic Committee and a member of the Afghan Education Ministry.
As can be seen from the photograph, sets of Kwik Cricket were also on show. These sets, kindly donated by the ECB, will be presented to schools in Kabul by Mr Banks and members of the British Forces in Afghanistan.
