C&W still for Windies cricket

Cable & Wireless, the main sponsor of regional cricket, is keen to renew its contract with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), a senior company executive said Tuesday. The announcement by chief executive officer of Cable & Wireless Regional Businesses, Robert Lerwill, ended months of speculation about the future of the company's involvement with the sport.

Lerwill said details would be announced shortly but gave no hints about the extent of the telecommunication company's financing. He said Cable & Wireless would be pursuing negotiations with the regional cricket board.
