England fast bowler Andy Caddick is doubtful for the NatWest triangular
series starting 27th June at Trent Bridge, but the talismanic Darren Gough
should be available for selection after recovering from a knee operation.
Caddick suffered a side injury in the third npower Test, forcing him out of
the game after bowling just 5.3 overs. He will see a specialist in
Nottingham tomorrow, but England team officials have admitted that the
chances of him playing in the NatWest series look slim.
Meanwhile, Gough's rehabilitation after knee surgery is gathering pace. He
will net with Yorkshire on Tuesday and play for their Academy XI on
Saturday. If all goes well he will then play for the 2nd XI next week and
then be available for national selection.
Mark Butcher will undergo arthroscopy operation on his injured knee on
Thursday, which will be followed by three to four week's rehabilitation. He
should be fit for the Lord's Test against India on July 25.
Finally, Ashley Giles has a strain in his upper back, which is likely to force him out of Warwickshire's C & G Trophy match on Wednesday. However, he's expected to recover in time for the Benson and Hedges final.
