The Wisden Cricketer magazine has launched a new project to rescue a struggling team from the bottom of the leagues and inspire it to glory. TWC's Adopt a Club scheme is hunting for the club that is most needy, most ambitious and most full of character to shower with £1000s worth of equipment coaching, services and publicity.
The adopted club will receive coaching and expert advice from top players as well as a training day at the National Cricket Centre. So if your club is languishing in a lowly league, or you've just suffered relegation - your club could be the one.
The magazine has got together with a number of companies and organisations to give the club the chance to fulfill its potential. Slazenger will supply a senior side and a junior team with a full set of clothing and kit as well as providing a sponsored player for a training day (players include Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood).
Flicx will supply practice facilities: bowling machines, nets, and Flicx pitches. Best-selling writer Marcus Berkmann will write-up the club's progress every month in TWC. Cricinfo will cover all first-team matches. Sky Sports has offered a coaching session with one of their commentators and will follow the fortunes of the club through the season.
Cockspur Rum will supply man-of-the-match rewards. There will be advice from top groundsmen, nutritionists and psychologists and finally, so your club continues to grow after the season ends, TWC will provide top advisers on development and fund-raising.
