Lahore, Nov 18: Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI) Raj Singh Dungarpur has rushed to Islamabad to persuade the Indian High
Commissioner to convince New Delhi to review its decision to cancel Pakistan's
tour.
Dungarpur, who is here for the ICC finance and marketing committee meeting, was
at the Qadhafi Stadium on Saturday morning before jetting out to Islamabad late
in the afternoon. But prior to his unscheduled visit to Islamabad, Dungarpur
made at least six telephone calls to India and about two to Islamabad to seek
appointment with the Indian High Commissioner.
Dungarpur, who arrived here on Friday evening, is said to return to Lahore late
Saturday evening.
Sources anticipated that Dungarpur was on a two-issue mission to Islamabad. "He
wants to secure a feed back regarding the security of the Indian players. And
secondly he wants the High Commissioner to use his good offices to convince the
competent authority to change their stand in the backdrop of disappointment in
Pakistan."
