Left arm spinner Clive Eksteen, a surprise inclusion in the South
African team to tour India, has said he is confident of doing well on
the spinning wickets in India. Eksteen, on his inclusion, said in
Johanessburg that "it was great news" and he expects to make the most
out of his second visit to India since his historic visit in 1991
where he had little opportunity to play. The 33-year-old has been
picked as a backup to Paul Adams who is nursing a broken finger.
South African selector Rushdi Magiet said Eksteen was chosen for the Indian
tour as he is the most experienced of the South African spinners and
believed the conditions would suit him. Eksteen is the third player
apart from Alan Donald and Darryll Cullinan to tour India from the
1991 squad. Eksteen last played for South Africa against England in
1996. The South Africans play two Tests at Mumbai and Bangalore
besides five one-day internationals.
