The partnership with Darren Gough has made Andy Caddick to overcome
his inferiority complex. Caddick had the inferiority feelings when he
was playing against the Carribeans in the past and that too, when
bowling against the pair of Walsh and Ambrose. He was so intimidated
by their prsence during their last tour to the carribean, that he
wasted the new ball in the third Test and was made to sit out the next
Test.
But in this series the English pace duo have taken three wickets more
than the West Indian legends. Caddick says he is no longer intimidated
by bowling in front of the Carribean counterparts.
The partnership has been in place since 1997 in New Zealand where
mutual respect gave way to this partnership which was followed by 30
Test wickets during the South African tour.
"He has pace, skids the ball on and has shape and I have bounce and
swing and I think we compliment each other well and having personal
respect for each other helps as well", said Caddick.
"I feel comfortable in myself and Nasser Hussain and Duncan Fletcher
have helped in that by keeping a happy dressing room, I feel I've
earned my place in the side now and I feel at the top of my confidence
and form now", said Caddick after his historic four wicket haul in one
over while finishing with 5 for 14.
Meanwhile Caddick, Stewart and Hussain have been rested for the
National League matches by coach Fletcher.
