Warwickshire will give Mohammed Sheikh another chance to shine under lights in the day-night meeting with AXA League leaders Essex at Edgbaston today.
The Birmingham-born all-rounder will again deputise for Gladstone Small, who has a hamstring injury, after taking five wickets in recent floodlit matches against Lancashire and Hampshire.
Warwickshire have named an unchanged 12 for a key match in defence of their title. Victory would put them alongside Essex on 32 points.
  • Devon Malcolm has proved he is still one of the quickest fast bowlers, even if he is no longer wanted at Test level by England.
  • The Northamptonshire player outdid his county colleague Franklyn Rose as well as Courtney Walsh, Nixon McLean, Andy Caddick and Ed Giddins, registering 88mph on the same speed radar gun used in recent Tests.
Rose was timed at the same speed as Malcolm in the event organised as part of Walsh's Gloucestershire testimonial year, but Malcolm claimed the UKP 750 Waterford Crystal prize by prevailing in a bowl-off.
