- Australians held sway on the first day of the Scarborough Festival as Tim Rice's International XI beat Yorkshire by five wickets with five balls to spare. The Yorkshiremen made 254 for seven in their 50 overs, with Anthony McGrath and Matthew Wood putting on 100 in 22 overs for the first wicket.
Justin Langer, of Middlesex, was the international side's most
successful bowler with four for 39, and then made 46 to earn the
man-of-the-match award.
The veteran batsman, who played at the world's biggest venues in a
glittering 47-Test career, will turn out at Arbroath's modest
Lochlands Park as they take on local rivals Meigle.
