He is as fluent in front of the camera as he is on the cricket pitch
while facing the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee. However, now
Sourav Ganguly may be asked to demonstrate his skill as an actor. If
one of the leading directors of West Bengal is to be believed, Ganguly
and his wife Dona may be seen as the hero and heroine of a film.
Disclosing this in Calcutta on Friday, director Anjan Choudhury said
that the name of the film is `Chandramallika' He also stated that a
preliminary discussion had taken place between him and Ganguly,
through the latter's wife Dona. Ganguly has agreed to act in the film
provided he likes the script.
Speaking about the story, Choudhury said, "The story deals with the
life of a female dancer. Initially, I had proposed the role to Dona.
She agreed to do it. Then through her, I approached Sourav. He has
asked me to send him the script. Once Ganguly returns from England,
official discussions will start. The film will be shot in Calcutta and
in Hyderabad."
Asked whether he was using the two to gain money and mileage,
Choudhury said, "That definitely is an important issue. But more than
that, I would like to film the most popular sports couple in West
Bengal. That is why I have decided to get involved in this venture. I
am sincerely praying that Ganguly likes the script."
